Unfortunately the painting is boxed in at the back so visual inspection is not possible. the canvas is slightly loose - it does not feel like it has been relined but cannot be certain. the picture has been cleaned to gallery standard sometime and is in good condition. There may have been some strengthening of paint to LHS bottom which may have had some bituminous paint. The frame is in reasonable order but has been restored at some time with overall use of rather dull gold paint. The nautical motifs appear generally complete.
